PRC @Cedar Street Studios & More piano tracking @Third Story Recording â™«

Monday night, at Cedar Street Studios we hosted the monthly PRC (Philadelphia Recording Community) meeting. We had a great turnout and spread the word about Box of Stars, an organization that spreads mental health awareness (and reduces stigma) through music. PRC is a fantastic way to participate in and network with people/studios operating in the greater Philadelphia area, and it’s a genuinely nice and very interesting group. And Box of Stars is a fantastic organization in which I hope all of my readers opt to play a part.

This evening, I tracked additional piano for Diandra Gore at Third Story Recording. We recorded parts for an original song. It’s a fun, fast, and funky track.

It is such a pleasure and a thrill to be interning at these two fine Philly studios!

Stay tuned for more updates on my upcoming EP; bass/guitar/drum tracking are happening next week!

Piano Tracking / Arranging at Third Story Recording â™«

I have had several sessions this summer during which I have collaborated as a songwriter / arranger / performer with Diandra Gore on her upcoming (debut) album. Today we tracked two new original songs; she sang, and I accompanied on piano. Jack Marron tracked drums for songs as well! [We recorded at Third Story Recording.]

Check out my Discography to read more about this and other upcoming recordings in which I have played a part (literally, and figuratively).

Diandra and I are having way too much fun, and she’s got way too much vocal talent, so please stay tuned for announcements regarding her album’s release!

Dischord Retrospective: Four Years of A Cappella at Penn

Graduating, soon, I have been thinking a lot about my time at Penn, specifically acting as an arranger, conductor, music director, soprano/mezzo, studio producer, and board member of Dischord A Cappella. Dischord is a co-ed group that was founded at the University of Pennsylvania back in 1998. The group performs a cappella covers spanning all genres – pop, indie, rock, country, jazz, folk, world, and fusion. Under my direction, the group has featured many mash-ups and medleys in its covers.

You can read a full account of my arranging credits for the group, here: Sarah Van Sciver, ’13, Soprano

Solo performances at our semesterly concerts:

I am an arranger for hire! Professional or non-professional vocal groups of all experience levels — all-male, all-female, or co-ed — contact me if you are interested in having something arranged.

…and of course check out the original Regina Spektor is AMAZING. Saw her in concert last year in Boston at the Orpheum, and she and her husband and both of their bands were fantastic live!
